Barcode Print Quality Checklist for 4×6 Shipping Labels
Check darkness level
Low-contrast or bleeding barcode lines can cause scan failures. Increase darkness gradually until bars are solid and still visibly separated.
Use matte print label paper
Use clean, flat thermal media recommended by your printer manufacturer. Avoid wrinkled or heavily reflective stock that can reduce scan consistency.
Avoid label edge scaling
Always print borderless. If the print scaling shrinks the label barcode lines too close together, scanners will fail to interpret them.
